Thankassery : Another tourist place, Thankassery is the place where the awesome remnants of Portuguese and Dutch forts can be seen.

Paravoor :

20 Kms from Kollam is Paravoor. This is a tiny extension of land stretching in between the sea and the back waters. The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation(KTDC) runs a beach resort over here. For the pilgrims, Varkala is an ideal place to visit. It has got a magnificent beach which is around 15 Kms from Kollam.

Jatayu Rock :Another famous spot is the Jatayu Rock, situated in Chadamangalam village. The rock has got its name from the epic Ramayana. Trekking lovers will enjoy this place very much.

Thenmala : The natural lover have every reason to be happy as there is this Thenmala , which is an Eco tourism hub. It is 68KMS away from Kollam. The Senthurini wild life sanctuary and the Thenmala dam will be delicious treats to the visitors.

Sasthamkotta :Next comes Sasthamkotta, the largest fresh water lake in Kerala, which is situated 27 Kms north of Kollam . Those who are looking for more enjoyment, there is this Alumkadavu, which is 26 Kms away from Kollam city and on the lakeside of Kollam-Alappuzha national water way. An 8 hour trip to reach Alappuzha by waterway will be a mindboggling experience.

Places To Visit In Kollam Alumkadavu :You have to travel 26 Kms from the Kollam city to reach this place. Here is the famous “Green Channel Back Water Resort” is situated. The resort gives aesthetic pleasure to both domestic and international travellers. The garden lined with coconut palms and the long stretching backwaters gives a divines atmosphere to the resort.

Aryankavu :This is an important pilgrim centre situated 73 Kms east of Kollam. The Lord Sastha shrine with attractive mural paintings and fine sculptures is a major attractive site.

Chavara : Situated 41 Kms north of Kollam is famous for mineral sand deposits. Tonnes of minerals sands are exported from here to different countries.

Palaruvi Water Falls : This famous waterfall is situated near Ayankavu. The milky water from it showers like holy blessing.

Achencoil :Sastha temple located in the dense forest of Achencoil is famous for its many festivals. Mandala pooja and “Revathi festival” are the two most important festivals of this temple.

Mayyand : Mayyanad is famous for its shrines and temples. The subramanya temple at umayanallor is one of the nine famous temples.
